Alcohol needs to stop being lazy and start delivering itself.
Independent wine store Blackhearts & Sparrows has a new way to deliver booze to your door, in most corners of the inner city.
Store founders and siblings Paul and Jessica Ghaie have joined with YourGrocer – an online service that arranges groceries from high-calibre produce stores (as well as the trusty IGA) for simultaneous home delivery. The existing mail service at B&S was a 2–6 day turnaround, with fees calculated by weight. The new fee is a flat rate of $7.99, and as long as you order by 1pm, your wine will be waiting for you when you get home (afternoon orders arrive the following day).
Market Lane Coffee, La Manna Fresh and Rustica Sourdough Bakery are among others collaborating with the service, allowing you to sort the ingredients for a pretty classy spread without expending too much effort.
“We never really wanted to go down the route of online sales, but the fact these guys aligned with quality stores and producers made us think,” says Jess. “It’s a nice and convenient way to reach out to busy people.”
