We’ve waited long enough, but the deal is blocked in.
The big guys take a long time to make their way down under. Australians waited patiently for Zara, H&M and Sephora to launch, and now its time for something just as big to make it’s debut– The LEGO Store.
The 350 square-metre store will open in Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, making it the first LEGO Store in the southern hemisphere.
Queensland’s Minister for Transport Stirling Hinchliffe said the Gold Coast was a growing international tourist destination and the perfect base for the new flagship store, especially with the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast approaching.
“LEGO’s decision to open its first LEGO Certified Store in Australia on the Gold Coast reflects the confidence business has in the coast,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
The store will be accessible from within the theme park and outside, so there’s no need to Dreamworld to make it in. The store will stock exclusive sets and the knick-knacks that are hard to come by at other toy retailers including key rings books and t-shirts.
The $3.5 million project will be entirely funded by Ardent as part of Dreamworld’s master plan.
Construction begins in July 2016 and will be November (of the same year!)
